I oppose any rights that humans have to 'survive' - that means they should have anything in nature as their right to use, and that means to grow food, and sell food from their own efforts - no one owns mother earths seeds and plants, no human has the right to take that way from anyone, it is free and should stay that way. ANY Government who allows this to happen must answer to the people, not corporations or private enterprise. And the law should be abolished, it does not support the people for which Governments are supposed to work for!

oops I didn't start that right...lol, I meant - humans have a right to survive and any laws opposing this should be abolished.

Assuming this bill actually includes the material it is claimed it contains (I have not read the bill yet) then the only people who stand to benefit from it are the corporates. Corporations are ultimately self-serving and will stop at nothing to advance their own interests (this is the driver behind multinational trade agreements). This bill advances corporate interests, whilst bringing in a corresponding loss of food sovereignty for ordinary people.

Corporation check out the meaning of the word...corpor=(means body) a= (without) ration= (reason or soul), if you look closely you will see we are now dealing with a petition re A Body without reason or Soul. Think about this, where does this leave us all on the planet, who do they think they are, and NZ politicians are still to my knowledge, PUBLIC SERVANTS, now unless something else has snuck by us, that tells me they are voted in by us to support and or serve us, i.e public = you and me+servant= to us=to serve us=we are their employers=they are employed by us the public, stand up new zealand stand up for your selves and your country and your heritage, this is our land and our way of life, we are a peaceful people until they put our backs against a wall, then out come the caretakers of the land and the people. All greedy corporations and there members would be wise to take note that we the people of new zealand are taking note of their actions in our land. God Bless us all.

I strongly support this petition & encourage everyone else to sign. No one should have the right to tell us what where when & who with we may share our food water or any other personal resources! This bill impedes community, heritage seeds, farmers markets & our general way of life in Far North New Zealand. it goes against Maori, It goes against Whanau, It goes against Tikanga & common sense & decency! Sign the bill. Don't hope the government will save you...this is their Bill!

Food is our basic right! The planet provides through our love and care and is for all, it is sick to think the corporates want to own it!

I would be so disappointed if this bill actually passed. I can see why so many people leave NZ and go overseas, our country is turning into a tightly run ship rather than a democratic society. We have less and less control in our own lives every year. It really is so sad that our kids will be growing up under a tyranical system.

http://www.petitiononline.co.nz/petition/oppose-the-new-zealand-government-food-bill-160-2/1301.. who started this petition and where are they going to send it? What is the wording etc...http://nzfoodsecurity.org/ say they did not start this petition.....

I have to say though...it is getting the attention of the people and the Media and the Politicians...so who ever started it is accomplishing some good so far4 (:>

What is our government and the parliament honestly thinking? Haven't they ruined our country enough already. I couldn't imagine our marae and communities not being able to provide our own food. Mr Politicians I'm not sure where you source youR food from but you will definitely send more people to Australia and abroad with this nonsense...

Kairangatiratanga is 1 of the few things we have left, haven't read the bill yet but sounds like they are trying to take away manakitanga and whanangatanga too, how would they stop us from dropping some kai moana off to the nan or koro? there is whakapapa with our kai and we need (to quote uncle Bob) "chase those crazy ballheads outa town" sharing surplus was not only a traditional Maori way of living but should be encouraged even more so in todays world!

Oh man this is evil to the core, what words can describe humanitys right to grow God given food from seeds hde created for mankind in the Garden of Eden. Can't people see that this is real. Look at the tasteless fruit and veges that are Genetically modified and the seeds not being able to be perpetual anymore. I strongly oppose this bill. Are we so so busy that whilst we are busy, we do not see the fundamental rights of human beings being stripped away gone for ever. Stand up if you want to eat and let your voice be heard Loudly. Do something to show you are not another clone of the scientists and One World Order.

Imagine the internet goes down. We wouldn't be able to buy food (who has cash at home?). The government should support private people to grow food and save seeds and share them with others. Otherwise I have to say this is a dangerous government. Christine

This sounds to me as though someone has a bee in the bonnet about government. Firstly, Parliament does not sit in January. Second, the petition is not in a form that is legally acceptable. NZ is an independent sovereign state. We make and change our own laws as we see fit. Get a life!

This bill will only provide more of a monopoly for the food corporations, New Zealanders are already paying far too much for "fresh" food and veges and this will only make it harder for every day New Zealanders to eat healthily. My Grandma has a small stall at the end of her drive selling homegrown veges at a low price for over 15 years, the people buy from her as they are affordable and they know that everything is natural, if she was to sell to a supermarket they'd charge the customers twice as much and give her barely nothing, this bill would rob her of only income.

Wikileaks recently wrote a commentary regarding food sources prohibition as worldwide government policy to control the masses... please read and see what our collective governments are wwanting to initiate. http://www.wikileaks-forum.com/index.php/topic,6373.msg25045.html#msg25045

This type of insidious change is dangerous as a lot of people say, 'We Can't Do Anything'...This is the attitude which allows these dangerous things to happen. Prevention is more powerful than attempting to 'cure' such dangerous behaviors!

This cannot happen...We have just moved to a lifestyle block and we are growing the most amazing abundance of food...and it tastes soooo good, I forgot just how good tasting and healthy real fresh vegetables and fruit are! this is a trespass on our basic human rights...united we stand divided we fall....ecoman.

Read Ian Wishart's book called Daylight Robery and you will see the that the government, banks and corporations are all working together to dominate us and make us their slaves. this is just another example of the stuff we need to educate the sheeple about. The more dependant we are on the government, banks and corporations, the more they can control us.This is just another way they are trying to stop us from being able to be independant.

Tell me why should we not stand against oppression when it comes from within the same way we stood against the Nuclear ships etc when USA wanted to come to NZ... We claim to be a clean green country, why then is the government trying to make us a puppet nation? Who benefits from the overall dissolution of homegrown veggies and livestock? The multi national corporations that hold the seed banks and monies etc. They dictate to our governments who quail and shake at the so called giants and quiver till they fold instead of standing strong and saying NO, New Zealand will be a GE free Zone and a country where Natural Products, whether Natural remedies or Organic Foods, milk, cottage industries etc can be encouraged to grow ad infinitum. Come on New Zealand, Stand UP and Get Real with what is important. If we let this bill go through by our inaction then we have no one to blame when the bigger governments dictate even more to this 'local' government. If we don't stand for this then we will fold for everything else.

I'm sorry, I don't see in the bill where you are not allowed community gardens or to trade food etc etc. I've read this Bill more than once, I also submitted heavily and consistently while it was in development and I.. well, I don't see where it does any of that stuff listed at the top of this page. Can someone post the actual clauses that are problematic? Otherwise it is just speculation. I also have a small food business, so obviously I will be affected by anything that the Food Bill 2010 requires (which is why I submitted conscientiously every time submissions were asked for). Personally, I am WAY more worried about the proposed Natural Products Act (shudder..), which is full of alarming issues.

Hye to you all, if you find out one new thing about the so called laws they are talking about they have no power over you as it will be a statutory law, and this is not a law, as such they need our agreement to enforce such mockery, It must not be agreed to they have no jurisdiction, unless you give it to them, THEY THINK WE ARE STUPID, Check out all the laws, bylaws are not even legal. WE NEED TO WAKE UP.   This is a common law jurisdiction, not a POLICE STATE.
